‘What would Ghandi be without the British Empire?’

‘I am working on new material and recording in our home studio here in Berlin. After participating in the Danish X Factor I released my first album: Home is where the Heart is – in 2009. My second album was 11 songs I composed in Danish for children with the title: Sange fra Sahara (Songs from Sahara). I am constantly on the road, spending my winters in Buenos Aires and touring Europe for festivals throughout the summer. Recently I was working with Danish television where we went on tour through Denmark and arranged bicycle races for children. When I am not busy performing gigs or touring I get on my tricycle and hit the streets of Berlin, performing in Mauerpark on Sundays and different spots that need some joy and music.’

‘I think I’m on a strange DIY path to a wide range of classic adult contemporary sounds… but I’m ok with that’

‘With my band Zulu Pearls I’ve been on a path of trying to just make some classic sounds that I want to listen to. The specific sound is always going to change and that’s the fun part for me. Tastes within the band are verging dangerously close to adult contemporary, but it’s always gonna be put through the filter. I’m not too worried about it. Just want to make build something worthwhile. I’ve had a lot of opportunities living in Berlin, that I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else and I’ll always be grateful for that. We’re in the middle of releasing a string of singles over the summer and our first single “Safe Things” is out and doing pretty well and there’s a lot to come from us so keep your dial tuned and your eyes peeled.’

‘Create always, take on the establishment, and go easy on yourself.’

‘I play bass in electro-rock duo ‘The Unkindness Of Ravens’. My singer Nina Wagner and I started out in London making raw garage rock guitar music with electronic beats, but since residing in Berlin and absorbing the scenes here we’ve taken on a more electro, industrial, club edge. Also a slight psychedelic influence that comes from hanging out in 8mm bar too often.
I find Berlin an incredibly inspiring place – there’s a sense of space that enables your mind to breathe, and there’s a gravity that comes from the history and depth of artistic vibe that makes you want to make important art. I know so many talented people here it blows my mind.
The new Unkindness Of Ravens album ‘Killing Horizon’ comes out later this year.’
